GANDER Small satellites

The costs of building a typical conventional satellite can reach many hundreds of millions of dollars, with the more complex modules reaching up to $3000 million. However, today the advantages of designing smaller, cheaper satellites are becoming increasing widely recognised. A single micro satellite may cost only $8 million, reducing to only around $3 million per satellite with mass production for GANDER.

An internationally recognised pioneer in this field is Surrey Satellite Technology, which so far has launched and operated 15 small satellites.

Small satellite projects have the advantage of rapid development times compared to the conventional space industry. They can also incorporate leading-edge technology to provide innovative solutions, permitting lighter systems to be designed with smaller volumes.
