Notes:
- The input data to the First SCOOP Test Data Set are
Cryosat-2 Full Bit Rate (FBR) data, Baseline C processing. These input
data were retrieved for the project by ESA / ESRIN and provided to the
project team on hard disk. They are not available through the project
pages but can be accessed directly
from ESA. The input files are listed by year in links.
- L1B
products are in the L1B_ISD_S3 sub-directories and have been processed
using the ESA GPOD
Facility
from the Cryosat FBR Baseline C data set according to the
Sentinel-3 baseline. Key aspects are:
- Calibration corrections have been applied according
to the information provided in the technical note: “Cryosat
Characterisation for FBR users” (C2-TN-ARS-GS-5179), available from the
Cryosat
wiki pages.
- L2 products are in the L2_STL_S3 sub-directories and
have been generated by using the ESA
GPOD Facility from the L1B products processed
according to the Sentinel-3 baseline. L1B to L2 processing (echo
modelling / re-’tracking) equivalent to the Sentinel-3 Baseline
processing (PDGS retracker version V2.5) has been applied. Key aspects
are:
- Implementation of SAMOSA-2 model
- Application of a Look-Up Table (LUT) for the
selection of a variable Point Target Response (PTR) width as a function
of SWH.
- RDSAR products are processed by
TU Delft from the Cryosat FBR Baseline C data set, using processing to
provide a product equivalent to the Sentinel-3 PLRM baseline.
- The
Wet Troposphere Correction is produced by the University of Porto,
using the GNSS-derived Path Delay Plus (GPD+) Algorithm using
all available
data types which for CryoSat-2 are GNSS data at coastal and island
stations and data from scanning imaging MWR (SI-MWR) on board ~20
different satellites. Reference M. Joana Fernandes and Clara Lazaro,
